When a loved one passes, or when we consider our own mortality, we need kindness, compassion and sensitivity. Interfaith Ministers aspire to be able to meet each request for help with what's needed, offering comfort and strength to those in need.

Most people are aware that they can have a funeral ceremony by a Minister of Religion, by a Humanist Celebrant, or by a friend. You may not realise you can also have a funeral or memorial or living funeral by an Interfaith Minister.

Personal beliefs need honouring and so we offer ceremonies which could be religious in an alternative way, part-religious and part-secular, spiritual or secular.

We're happy to include religious or spiritual language or wording, or elements such as hymns or prayers, or reference to the possibility of an afterlife if wanted, and would do so with the greatest sensitivity to all those gathered.

A ceremony can be long or short, simple or complex - most importantly you can have the exact ceremony you wish.

We ask how we can help you rather than telling you what you can or have to have. Most ministers will make suggestions if needed and after meeting you will also contact anyone else who’d like to contribute something to the ceremony.

As individual ministers we have our own unique ways of working. Most of us will hold funerals and memorials anywhere; inside, outside, in front rooms or gardens; in churches, chapels, halls and crematoria.

We aspire to hold funerals with exactly what's called for - sometimes grace, dignity and depth, sometimes creativity, lightness and humour - but always, with sensitivity, with reverence and with compassion.
